ARGENTINA & CHILE WITH LAKE CROSSING

Itinerary:

Day 1: USA-Buenos Aires
Overnight flight to Buenos Aires via Santiago. Dinner and movie on board.

Day 2: Buenos Aires
Morning arrival in Argentina’s vibrant capital.  Transfer to your centrally located hotel.  Day at leisure to explore the surroundings and perhaps shop for leather, suede, wool knits, jewelry or antiques. (4-star centrally located De Las Americas Hotel).

Day 3: Buenos Aires
Morning sightseeing tour of the city’s main landmarks: Plaza de Mayo, Presidential Palace (Pink House), Congress Building, Opera House, and Palermo Park.  Remainder of day at leisure. This evening you might want to try one of the city’s finest steak houses.

Day 4: Buenos Aires
Day at leisure to discover the largest metropolis on the continent. Buenos Aires has a distinct European flavor, from the colorful working-class Italian district of La Boca to the elegant turn-of-the-century townhouses of San Telmo.  At night, you might want to sign up with the hotel concierge for a classical Argentinean Dinner and Tango Show.

Day 5:  Buenos Aires-Bariloche
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Bariloche, the St. Moritz of South America, nestled between craggy peaks and the lake, 2,600 ft. high, in the heart of the Patagonian Andes. Transfer to your centrally located hotel. (4* Nevada Hotel).

Day 6:  Bariloche, Argentina
Free day to practice on the slopes (June thru September), tour the spectacular surroundings, enjoy the fine cuisine and nightlife.

Day 7:  Bariloche-Peulla, Chile
Morning departure for one of the most scenic trips you’ll ever take. The journey starts with a breathtaking 2-1/2 hour launch ride across Lake Nahuel Huapi to Puerto Blest. Free time for a leisurely lunch before hopping on a bus for a short drive to the shores of Lake Frias.  There you board another launch for a 20 minute ride to the Argentina-Chile border. After passport formalities, board a bus for the last leg of today’s journey, to Peulla for dinner and overnight. (Hotel Peulla, tourist class).

Day 8:  Peulla-Puerto Varas, Chile
Sail across All Saint’s (Todos los Santos) Lake, surrounded by majestic, snow-capped peaks, to Petrohue.  From here, driving along the shore of Lake Llanquihue, Chile’s largest, you will be spellbound by the scenery set against a back-ground of lush, green countryside: patches of well-plowed fields, brush strokes of floral yellows, reds and lilacs, weather-beaten barns, and church steeples. Your journey ends in Puerto Varas, the gateway to the Chilean Fjords. (Hotel Los Alerces 3 star).

Day 9: Puerto Varas-Puerto Montt-Santiago, Chile
Fly over the spectacular Andes, rising out of the clouds, to Chile’s sophisticated capital,and transfer to your centrally located hotel. (Galerias 4*).

Day 10 & 11: Santiago, Chile
At leisure to explore the city at your own pace or tour nearby Valparaiso and the beach resort of Vina del Mar, or the Andean ski resort of Portillo.  The wine region south of the city is another popular one-day outing.  Enjoy an included half-day city tour on one of these days visiting the Pre-Columbian Art Museum, San Cristobal Hill for a panoramic view of the city, the Cathedral, the Post Office, and the National Museum.

Day 12: Santiago - USA 
Evening transfer to the airport for your return flight home arriving USA the following morning. Dinner and movie on board.
